Paddle!
So you want to know how to get out paddling - SOON!?
We'll tell you how, but first - shouldn't you read the FINE PRINT at the bottom of this page? OK - The simplest way to get started is to enroll in one of our instructional schools, which are offered each semester. We post a trip schedule on the ORGT web site. If you've missed the school for the semester, you may be able to get on a non-official trip (we call them NOT trips), assuming there's a trip leader on the trip. These are sometimes announced on the list servers. If you are a skilled paddler with your own equipment, you may be able to hook up with other ORGT paddlers by subscribing to our list server. The list server is also used to announce meetings and occasional pool sessions, so it's a great way to stay in touch. We promise you will not be bombarded with emails!
We rent equipment, but only to GT community members who have completed our instructional programs, or demonstrated equivalent skill to a trip leader. We do this for safety and liability reasons, not because we're mean or greedy! Does this sound difficult? It's not meant to be - but we're volunteers with limited time. Be persistent and offer to help! Sooner or later you will get out paddling! Here are some other ways to Get Involved.
Here's the FINE PRINT.
1. You must be able to swim.
2. You must be a GT student, staff, alum, associate or accompanied guest.
3. You must have health / accident insurance.
