Get Involved

Although supported by GT staff, ORGT depends on student volunteers to run its programs. We're recognized as unique among outdoor recreation programs because students have a high degree of control and responsibility. Students teach the schools, lead the trips, buy the equipment, and make decisions about the future of the program.

Our sea kayaking program currently relies heavily on alumni. We have students who are ready to help, but it takes lots of training, skill and experience to become an ORGT Trip Leader. In order to keep the program in the hands of the students, we have to create our future leaders from today's participants. We're looking for a few good -- uh -- paddlers!

That said, you don't have to make a big commitment to try kayaking. It's OK to just check us out, and see what you think. Here's a few ways to do that.

- Sign up for an instructional trip

- Come to a subcommittee meeting. (OK, so we don't know when the next one is, but we'll announce it on the list serve!)

- Join the email list serve

- Get in the pool with a boat - crash the whitewater roll school

- Come to the ORGT General Committee meeting, or to ORGT Special Events.

- Apply to work at the Wilderness Outpost

- Sign up for our Annual Leadership Retreat or other ORGT Special Event

- Offer to help!
